Organizational Staff

Richard Smith is a Safety/Environmental Consultant for MTCS and has been in the Safety, Health, and Environmental fields for over 20 years.

Past work experience includes two years with Alexander and Alexander/AON Risk Services as Risk Control Supervisor and four years as Safety and Health Specialist with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region VII. In 1996 Rick started 'Risk Control Consultants'. In 2005, the company name was changed from 'Risk Control Consultants' to 'Midwest Training and Consulting Services'. The name change better reflects company growth and direction since its inception.

Jerry Taylor is a senior environmental consultant for MTCS and has been in the Safety, Health and Environmental fields for over 30 years. Jerry has been with MTCS for 10 years.

Recent Accomplishments

MTCS has become the leading provider of Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control Plans (SPCC) and in the last six years we have completed almost 300 SPCC plans. This is more than any other environmental company in the Midwest. Our clients have been federal, county and city organizations as well as many private and public companies.

We have completed SPCC Plans in 21 states, including Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa.

Our staff has just completed the Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP-001 tank inspector course so that we can assist our clients with integrity testing requirements of the EPA.

Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) have had a recent increase in government compliance attention and we have recently completed many in Kansas and Missouri.

Our organization has recently joined the Kansas Ready Mix Association as an associate member.
